The island has a new Captain of the Parish after a ceremony at the governor's house.
Paul Costain was sworn in as Captain of the Parish of Rushen at Government House, and was presented with a Badge of Office and framed warrant
The office's history goes back to 1626, when it meant the head of a local militia which defended the Island in case of invasion.
In modern times, the title is largely ceremonial.
