Island waking up to snow and ice

The Isle of Man is waking up to a moderate covering of snow in some places following a night of wintry showers.

Currently the North is bearing the brunt of it with the snowfall forecast to get heavy in places, it's expected to begin moving down south soon.

The Mountain has received the worst of it, with the below zero temperatures meaning it's sticking more effectively, with significant ice on the roads also.

The East and especially around the Douglas area also saw wintry showers over the night, the gritters have been focussing around the Douglas area, they've also covered the Mountain and the Laxey coast road.

There are as yet no road closure orders in place however motorists are urged to stick to the lower routes, taking extra care given the icy conditions.

On the buses everything is operating to schedule with no changes reported so far.
