Island to Join UK in Remembering Servicemen Who Lost Their Lives at War
The Isle of Man along with the rest of the UK will fall
silent at 11am this morning in memory of those who lost their lives fighting in the two World Wars.
A short service will be held to mark Armistice Day at the
war memorial, which will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Sir Paul Haddacks
and Lady Haddacks, aswell as the Mayor Richie McNicholl.
There will also be a strong presence of ex-personnel who will be leading a march to the memorial in time for the silence.
We spoke to John Galt who served in the Navy during World War 2, he said it’s of paramount importance that people never forget the sacrifices servicemen have made over the years.
He said although it’s difficult to reflect on many aspects of his time at war he has memories that he will be recalling today at 11am.
