Isle of Man Post Office is honouring the 250th birthday of a Manx naval hero.
Captain John Quilliam served as First Lieutenant alongside Admiral Nelson on the HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, as well as serving as an MHK before returning to the seas.
Colleen Corlett, a local designer-artist, has created six stamps telling the story of Quilliam's life, paired with issue text by Frank Cowin, who is the co-author of a book about the Manx man.
A professor of naval history at Kings College London, Andrew Lambert, says in the age of Nelson only a select few navy heroes were hand picked by the great man: among them was John Quilliam.
