IOM Meats hopeful for quick resolution to Tesco issues

Tesco have confirmed that they will be re-inspecting the Island's Meat Plant shortly with a view for lifting the suspension of meat supplies currently in place.

The suspension was put in place following an un-announced audit by the Supermarket giant, where a number of discrepancies were flagged up.

Isle of Man Meats Ltd are confident that they have rectified these minor issues which include some changes to the documentation process, and replacing a metal detector with an automatic one.

As recent as December the company had received an A grade accreditation following an extensive audit from the British Retail Consortium.

Acting CEO of the company, John Dawkins, said he wants to reassure the public that the areas of concern had nothing to do with the way they treat the animals during slaughter, or afterwards.

It's hoped normality can be restored following this next, all important audit.
