IOM Heritage days returns next month

A huge host of free events to celebrate the Island's heritage and culture will be returning next month.

October sees the return of the Isle of Man Heritage Open Days, with over 80 events taking place over two weekends that month.

Manx National Heritage (MNH) says the aim of the occasion is to 'open the doors' to places on the Isle of Man not usually accessible to the public and 'reveal the lesser known stories of these fascinating places'.

MNH Director, Edmund Southworth, says: "Over the years, Heritage Open Days has become embedded in our annual programme and we know many people look forward to it.

"Eleven years later, it has become a celebration not just of the Island’s built heritage, but also of many aspects of Manx culture."

Some of the activities which will be available include a visit to the Viking Ship Burial at Knock-e-Dhoonee and guided tours of the state rooms of Government House and Ballughton Nurseries.

All the planned events will take place from October 2-4 and again from October 9-11, full details of what will be on is available on the Manx National Heritage website.
