HPV Vaccination To Protect Females Against Cervical Cancer
The final stage of the HPV vaccination programme for the Island will commence tomorrow.
It all forms part of an awareness campaign making younger females aware of the dangers and possibilities of sexually transmitted disease, tomorrow’s program will see girls aged between 12 and 17 receive their vaccinations.
It’s a landmark vaccination as it’s one of the first that actually prevents the potentially fatal cancer of the cervix, an illness that came into focus following the death of Jade Goody.
The Isle of Man vaccination programme will start on 15th March 2010 at QEII High School. All other schools will receive the vaccination subsequently during March.
