Hosepipe ban on Island

Hosepipes are being banned on the Isle of Man.

Manx Utilities has confirmed there’ll be restrictions to water use, starting from Friday, August 3.

The authority has described the Island's current heatwave as a 'one in a 20 year' event.

After monitoring reservoir water levels, and consulting with the Met Office about future rainfall productions, the company has decided to put the measure in place. 

Anyone caught watering their gardens or washing their cars with a hosepipe could face a fine of up to £1,000.
