Horse Trams celebrate 135th anniversary over weekend

The iconic horse trams operating on the promenade throughout the summer months this weekend celebrated its 135th anniversary.

The service started life on August 7th 1876 only ever interrupted by World War 2.

Its been a popular tourist draw throughout its time on the promenade.

The anniversary was celebrated with a cavalcade of trams embarking on the route yesterday afternoon.

Douglas Borough Council has described it as a fitting tribute to the oldest horse-drawn tramway in the world.
