A woman from the UK has been jailed, and banned from owning dogs for five years, after her Labrador attacked a man who was out walking.
57-year-old Dawn Elizabeth Fisher-Simpson, of no fixed address, also lost ownership of Bentley Blue after failing to keep him under proper control.
At Douglas Courthouse earlier this week the court heard the man had sustained a 'nasty injury' to his hand during an incident on Trollaby Lane on October 11th.
Police attended the area in Union Mills and found Fisher-Simpson living in her car - she became startled and hit out at one of the officers before resisting arrest.
The court also heard Fisher-Simpson had caused unnecessary suffering to Bentley Blue on July 1st after leaving the Labrador cross in a sweltering car for over three hours.
Addressing the court her advocate described her situation as 'rather tragic' saying she'd become homeless and stranded adding: "Blue is her only companion, her only friend."
Sentencing Fisher-Simpson to 18 weeks in prison Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered her to hand over the dog to the ManxSPCA.
