Home Affairs Minister sets up group to look into Sarah's Law

Sarah\'s Law has already been rolled out across the UK, it gives parents the right to obtain information about pedophiles living in their area, it\'s seen as a child protection tool.

The Department of Home Affairs have responded to growing pressure surrounding the campaign for the introduction of Sarah’s Law.

Minister Adrian Earnshaw has established a group to look into its possible introduction, and the issues in the wider context of child protection arrangements in the Island.

Sarah's Law has already been rolled out across the UK, it gives parents the right to obtain information about pedophiles living in their area, it's seen as a child protection tool.

An on Island facebook campaign and petition has garnered huge support for the introduction of the law, in the past however Minister Earnshaw had dismissed it, deeming it inappropriate for the Isle of Man.

Since receiving the petition in July however the Minister has said he’s been impressed with the level of effort and commitment applied to the research by those behind the campaign.

He has deemed it a departmental imperative that the review is undertaken as soon as possible, with the group holding their first meeting earlier this week.
