Heavy rainfall leads to road warnings across Island

Motorists are warned to take extra care on the roads this morning as heavy rainfall throughout the night has left a lot of standing water.

Earlier a road traffic accident on Richmond Hill caused significant tailbacks, as far as the Fairy Bridge, during rush hour.

There is the risk of flooding at the Fairy Bridge with extensive standing water, the end of Ballanard Road near to the Scollag is also said to be bad.

The Lhoobs road remains closed, as is the stretch from Garth through to Crosby.

You’re urged to drive with extreme caution and leave extra time for journeys.
