Guilty plea from partygoer who lashed out at police

22-year-old Rory O'shea was stopped by officers at 12.15am on Lord Street on July 24th when they noticed he was "unsteady on his feet" and falling into the road. 

 

He refused to cooperate with them and tried to walk away - due to his non-compliance police handcuffed him and attempted to put him in the police van. 

 

However they were unable to get him into the cell and back-up had to be called - O'shea was abusive to the officers and ended up kicking two of them. 

 

As he was booked into the custody suite he continued his "aggressive" and abusive tirade calling the officers a number of derogatory terms. 

 

In interview the next day he told police he couldn't remember anything after leaving the house party he was at. 

 

At Douglas Courthouse this week O'shea pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer, two charges of assaulting a police officer to resist arrest and being drunk and incapable. 

 

Social enquiry reports have been requested before he's sentenced on September 20th - he's been bailed in the meantime.
