Building Can Commence In Jurby After Tynwald Greenlight GP Suregery Plans
After an amendment by Liberal Vannin MHK Peter Karran was defeated in Tynwald work can now begin on building a new GP Surgery in Jurby.
Tynwald voted overwhelmingly infavour of the £1.6 million development despite a handful of efforts to delay the decision.Concerns were put forward to Tynwald by chairman of Michael Commissioners Stephen Hamer, who suggested the location of the health centre in Jurby would be detrimental to the Michael residents.
A compromise was reached however when member for Health Dudley Butt said the existing make shift centre already in Michael would continue to operate as normal once the one in Jurby had been built.
Aswell as serving Jurby the new surgery will also cover Andreas, Ballaugh and Kirk Michael.
