People will not be able to see their doctor next Tuesday afternoon.
GPs will be downing tools to attend a quarterly education session. The Department of Health says the meetings are vital as they help doctors keep up to date with the latest developments in medicine.
Practices will remain open for those people who wish to make appointments, collect test results or order repeat prescriptions.
Practice nurses will be working as normal and on-call GPs will be on hand to provide emergency cover where needed.
