Tobacco tax among changes in response to UK budget

Treasury Minister Alex Allinson says government's assessing how measures announced by the UK chancellor today will affect the Island.

Rachel Reeves delivered the UK's autumn budget statement earlier today, Wednesday, November 26. 

In line with the UK, the Island will increase tobacco duty by inflation plus two percent from this evening,

The Manx government says all alcohol duty rates will increase from Sunday, February 1 next year, the same month the Island announces its own budget. 

Meanwhile, as part of the customs agreement with the UK, the Isle of Man will keep applying the cut in fuel duty by five pence per litre until September next year
