Around £6.3 million has been spent on government-issued spending cards in the past year.
The figure was released in response to a Freedom of Information request.
It's up from about £5 million which was spent on them five years ago.
The Treasury also explained there are currently 1,093 of what it calls purchase cards in circulation.
