Affordable housing was the topic in question at Tynwald yesterday.
Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas quizzed the Housing and Communities Board Chair David Ashford about what the term affordable housing means.
Mr Ashford explained the term needs to be updated and is outdated when using the strict government terms.
He added other jurisdictions are using private sector partnerships with governments to be able to provide affordable housing.
