The Department for Enterprise says it'll continue looking at how a possible tourist tax would work - but doesn't have any firm plans yet.
A report about a possible visitor levy is due to be considered by Tynwald when it sits in April.
The report says consultation showed some support for the scheme from the hospitality industry - although some businesses were firmly against it.
It concludes Visit Isle of Man will continue to work with the industry to see how a workable scheme could be developed and administered to provide investment in the visitor economy.
