The Department for Enterprise says it cost more than £16,500 to film a marine conservation advert - and its star is costing £20,000 over a year.
A Freedom of Information request to the department asked how much it had cost to hire TV presenter Monty Halls for the recent Extraordinary Isle campaign.
The DfE said Mr Halls had been made an ambassador for the Isle of man for 12 months, costing £20,000.
Filming the ad in Laxey cost a total of £16,635 including £300 on food and drink expenses.
