Cav and Gillings Continue to Shine
It’s been a positive week for Manx sport, with the Island’s two biggest sports stars Mark Cavendish and Zoe Gillings.
Mark Cavendish claimed the 50th victory of his career at the Tour of Missouri in St Louis, beating cycling rival Thor Hushovd to the landmark number.
The Manx Missile announced the other day he would be staying with Team Columbia for another season, the victory sealed the 22nd of his 09 season.
Off the roads and onto the powder Manx women and Britain’s number one snowboarder Zoe Gillings clinched second place in the first snowboarding event of the winter season.
The Parallel Giant Slalom competition held in Argentina was a daunting prospect for Zoe who has faced major funding issues of late, meaning her scheduled practice time of 7 weeks was dramatically cut down to just four days.
The victory means she remains rooted as 5th
seed in the world.
