The Island’s retail sector needs to "up its game" according to the Department of Economic Development.
A new training course is being financed by the government with help from the Isle of Man College in an effort to improve customer service.
Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly is chair of the retail strategy committee which has agreed to support the initiative for an initial 12 months.
He says good customer service can make a big impact in the current economic situation:
