Eight patients from the Gansey Unit of the Southlands care home will be transferred to a facility in Douglas today.
The temporary move was announced last week after it was confirmed that there was a major shortage of staff at the Port Erin site.
It's anticipated that the residents will be relocated to Thie Meanagh in Douglas for around a month while an urgent search for suitable staff is conducted.
The Department of Social Care has admitted the lack of staff has been a concern for some time and there aren't suitable candidates ready to fill the vacancies.
Annual holiday and sick leave have been blamed for the current state of affairs.
