Douglas council says it wants four of its war memorials put on the protected building register.
The move would bring extra protection to the Douglas War Memorial on Harris Promenade, the Borough Cemetery War Memorial, the Great War Memorial on Douglas Head and Inkerman Memorial at the Nunnery.
It comes after a proposal by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to put the four on the register.
The local authority says their addition would mean carrying out significant works on them would require approval.
