Four countryside fires in just 24 hours, say fire crews

Fire crews have been called to four fires in the countryside in the last 24 hours.

The Island's Fire and Rescue Service says there were two incidents on Saturday, with another two overnight.

It says eight fire engines and 40 firefighters have used more than 65,000 litres of water tackling blazes.

The organisation is appealing to people not to light fires or disposable barbecues in the countryside, plantations and moorland - adding a single spark can have serious consequences.
