The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says there'll be no food hygiene rating scheme for the Island.
In a departmental update due to be laid before Tynwald this month, DEFA says it doesn't have the resources to set one up and so is removing the objective from its plans.
The UK's scheme sees all restaurants and takeaways given a grade to let customers know how clean they are.
The DEFA document says minister Clare Barber will update Tynwald about food business regulation during the court's October sitting.
