Free fluoride varnish treatments will be offered to every primary school child from next year.
As part of the new Smile of Mann programme, treatments will be given twice a year by dental nurses.
The government says the varnish prevents tooth decay and dental cavities, takes five minutes and is painless.
Public Health professor Ross Keat says it follows a report which showed Island five year olds have higher levels of tooth decay than their UK counterparts.
