A popular riverside pub in Laxey could be about to get new barriers in its beer garden.
It comes as the government tries to tackle flooding in the village.
The Department of Infrastructure has applied for planning permission to build a new flood defence at the Shore Hotel on Glen Road.
The work would see concrete used instead of boulders to prevent the river eroding its banks, and a glass wall almost four feet high replacing current rope fencing.
In its application, the department says the work is vital to improve flood protection after the village suffered four floods in five years.
