The leader of Douglas Borough Council has launched a scathing attack on the appearance of some of the town's shops and businesses.
Yesterday, the council confirmed that special wardens can now issue spot fines of up to £100.
These can be for a number of public offences, and for shops that have untidy premises.
Councillor David Christian said the time had come to get tough:
