Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford says finding a provider for ARMD services at Noble's has 'proved more difficult than expected'.
A satellite team from Aintree Hospital will continue to run it for at least another 12 months.
The department began looking for a new provider back in April, but says none of the tenders they received were a suitable high quality alternative.
The DHSC is also thanking Aintree for their continued assistance and co-operation.
