Four-hundred-and-fifty nine inspections were carried out by the government on adult care homes over the past decade, with 63 being unannounced.
The numbers were given by Health Minister Claire Christian in response to a written Tynwald question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge.
She says the Department of Health and Social Care carried out 423 inspections in child day care facilities.
Another 66 were carried out on professional children’s homes.
