The Fenella Footbridge in Peel is to be lifted for essential repairs and maintenance this month.
The footbridge has experienced problems with its bearing assembly in the past and last year recommendations were invited in relation to a permanent and robust repair.
A temporary fix was put in place last June, the bridge will now be lifted for the slewing mechanism to be removed and modified.
It’s not yet been determined where the blame should lie for the previous failings.
The work will commence on Monday of next week and will take until the 21st April, throughout this period the work site on the East Quay will be fenced off.
