A recital of a renowned Manx poet's poem is now available online.
T. E. Brown's 'Betsy Lee', performed by Dollin Kelly in the Manx language was recorded in 1992.
Timed with the poet's birthday, May 5, it's now available to hear on the Culture Vannin website.
'Betsy Lee' is a story of great joy and heartbreak, following the narrator’s tale of his love for and loss of Betsy Lee.
Thomas Edward Brown was born in Douglas, 1830 and studied at Christ Church, Oxford. He was a teacher at King William's College before teaching at Clifton, near Bristol, where he passed away at age 67 in 1897.
