A prisoner will spend an additional six months behind bars after being caught trying to smuggle mobile phones into the prison.
28-year-old Darren Noel Dooley, formally of Oak Avenue in Douglas, was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse yesterday.
The court heard Dooley had presented for a court appearance on October 25th believing he was going to be remanded to the Isle of Man Prison.
He was carrying a large bag - it was searched and two mobile phones were located hidden underneath the insoles of his trainers.
Six days later, whilst on the segregation unit at the prison, he was searched and officers located another mobile phone.
Dooley's advocate told the court the offences were pre-mediated and immature adding: "He bitterly regrets his actions."
Magistrates ordered the six-month sentence to be served consecutively to the sentence he is currently serving.
