Residents will get the chance this week to look at plans to regenerate East Quay in Peel.
The Department of Infrastructure is planning to revamp the stretch between the road bridge and the foot bridge, including reconstructing the road and footpaths, expanding the leisure area opposite the House of Manannan and creating a flood defence wall.
The DOI says it would result in a reduction in parking, but that there would be more spaces created by the House of Manannan with services included to offer the option of creating electric vehicle charging points.
Due to the project being in the Peel Conservation Zone it's subject to planning approval, with officials hoping to lodge an application in the next two weeks with a view to starting work in September 2021.
This, the department believes, would be timed to support Peel's seasonal tourism trade.
As a result, the DOI is hosting a drop-in session in the town tomorrow evening (August 26) at the Peel Centenary Centre between 5pm and 7.30pm - officers will be on hand to talk people through the proposals.
