Dyslexia consultation has three weeks left to run

The public consultation on dyslexia has three weeks left to run with all interested parties urged to get involved before the cut off date.

The current policy dates back to 2002 and has been updated in line with current research.

It's estimated 10% of children are dyslexic or have difficulty with the written word, it exists on a spectrum with some affected more severely than others.

The Director of Services for Children with the DEC has said, '‘The documents will be of interest to the parents and teachers of children either identified as being dyslexic, or who struggle with reading and/or spelling but are not, as yet, identified as dyslexic.'

The documents can be found at http://www.gov.im/Consultations.gov and click on ‘current consultations’.
