A Laxey man who caused a pile-up at a set of traffic lights in Douglas has been fined £500.
22-year-old Emanuel Jay Kaneen ploughed into the back of a car on Bray Hill on April 10th.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday/on Thursday/last week Kaneen admitted to driving without due care and attention.
The court heard witnesses had seen him travelling at an "excessive speed" moments before the crash on Quarterbridge Road at 4pm.
Kaneen's Renault Clio was said to skid out of control as he tried to stop for the lights - hitting the next vehicle in line, which in turn hit another car.
Accident investigation work carried out at the scene showed he was travelling at at least 43mph in the 30mph zone.
Kaneen's advocate told the court his vehicle had "picked up speed" going down the hill adding it was a "long but momentary inattention".
Ordering Kaneen to pay costs of £50, and endorsing his licence with seven penalty points, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it was clear he'd been "travelling too fast".
