A Port St Mary man who drove despite being more than four times the legal limit will be sentenced in May.
50-year-old Michael Paul Groves, of Beach Road, admitted the offence at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week.
Police arrested him at his home on February 24th - the lowest reading he gave on the breathalyser machine at Police Headquarters was 143; the legal limit is 35.
The court heard Groves had driven to work in Douglas on the day and had consumed two pints of cider at lunchtime.
He went on to consume two 500ml bottles of vodka orange before making the decision to drive home at around 4pm.
12 miles into the journey Groves stopped and was said to drink another vodka orange and a quantity of straight vodka - he stopped at the Co-op in the village before making it home.
Social enquiry reports have been requested before Groves is sentenced on May 23rd - he's been given permission to reside in England, whilst on bail, until his next appearance.
