A Douglas teenager who was spared prison in September after a string of driving offences has been sent to jail after re-offending.
18-year-old Matthew Parkinson was yesterday re-sentenced after pleading guilty to breaching a community service order against him.
He was given 220 hours of unpaid work, as an alternative to prison, after causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care and attention.
However he breached the order three times - in addition he also pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods on October 22nd after buying an iPhone he knew was stolen.
Parkinson's advocate asked for the teenager to be re-sentenced saying he had requested to be sent to prison and that she felt it may be "the making of him".
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it was a brave decision to simply "accept his fate" without seeking further reports.
She sentenced him to 10 weeks custody for the original offence and four weeks for the stolen goods charge - he is expected to serve half the sentence.
