Children in the Douglas area could soon have the choice of which secondary school they want to attend taken away from them.
The Department of Education and Children are putting an order before Tynwald to place children in the nearest secondary school with the most room.
At present, 11-year-olds leaving primary schools in the Douglas and Onchan area have the choice of attending either St Ninian’s High School or Ballakermeen High School, but soon they won't.
Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare says there's no logic in placing students in schools that are at full capaity.
