Plans to install a 15m phone mast in a conservation area in Douglas have been overturned at appeal.
The proposal, from telecoms firm Sure , was originally approved by the Isle of Man planning department last year.
Since then an independent planning inspector from the UK issued a report saying the mast would "significantly harm" the character of the Woodbourne Lane and Selbourne Drive area.
The report stated that the applicant had failed "sufficiently to demonstrate that there is a strategic national need for the development which cannot be secured by mast sharing or alternative locations".
The approval has now been overturned by the Isle of Man Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
