A church in the capital has been granted cathedral status by Pope Francis.
The announcement comes following Douglas being awarded city status as part of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June last year.
St Mary of the Isle will now be a co-cathedral alongside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King in Liverpool.
Monsignor John Devine, parish priest, says it’s wonderful news for Catholics across the Island.
