The Department of Infrastructure says it's spending £136,000 on signs to get Douglas and Onchan ready for their 20mph zones.
A Freedom of Information request to the department asked for more details about the signs after minister Michelle Haywood revealed they'd already been bought.
In its response, the DOI says it ordered the signs on February 7 through an existing supplier.
And it says the overall estimated cost for the two locations was £136,000.
