A man has denied allegations he kicked his former partner during a fight which involved plates being hurled against the wall.
Luke Compton, of Frankville Court, Woodville Terrace in Douglas, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
He denies domestic abuse between January 3 and November 11 last year.
The court heard he allegedly kicked the woman twice in her ribs and grabbed her by the throat - Mr Compton claims his actions were in self-defence.
The case was adjourned until March 23 for a pre-trial hearing and he was bailed in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn't contact his alleged victim.
