A leading doctor has stressed the importance of seeing your local GP if you fear you may have diabetes.
Dr Emran Khan's warning comes as Diabetes Awareness comes to an end tomorrow with thousands of people on the island already treated for the conditions.
People of any age can contract the illness with symptoms such as fatigue, weight loss and constant thirst common among sufferers.
Dr Khan said the proportion of people with diabetes here was slightly smaller than the UK but still a significant problem:
