MHK and Dignity in Dying supporter Quintin Gill has said for too long the cornerstone of the argument against patient choice has revolved on religious interpretation and dogma and feels this needs to change.
He said opinion on the matter is still fairly split on the Island, but a recent UK survey found 71% of people supported assisted dying.
The Rushen MHK has said if Dr Ling’s comments will lead to a better-informed appreciation about the sensitive issue, then he will be welcomed.
