MHK and Dignity in Dying supporter Quintin Gill has said for too long the cornerstone of the argument against patient choice has revolved on religious interpretation and dogma.
The Island’s local Dignity in Dying supporters group have issued a cautious welcome for a visiting speaker who will be airing his views against the contentious issue.
Dr Jonathon Ling’s visit is being paid for and hosted by LIFE Isle of Man, whilst on the Island he will be addressing Tynwald member’s aswell as delivering a 'Seminar on Euthanasia' at St John's Mill.

He said opinion on the matter is still fairly split on the Island, but a recent UK survey found 71% of people supported assisted dying.
The Rushen MHK has said if Dr Ling’s comments will lead to a better-informed appreciation about the sensitive issue, then he will be welcomed.
