DHSS Announce Money Saving and Revenue Boosting Strategies
The Department of Health and Social Security’s Social Services team have announced a range of measures geared toward increasing their revenue.
The main initiative will see an increase in fee’s for Government run residential care homes with the weekly charge rising just over £11 to £391.
It's thought that by bringing the costs up on a par with the Private Care on offer it ends the price war competion between the two.
Charges are also to be introduced to residential care on offer for people with learning difficulties, as with more and more people progressing into flats or homes on their own it's deemed as both a valuable lesson and also a good revenue stream.
Social Services Director Andrew Swithinbank said although it's tough to scale back spending whilst still maintaining services, he is confident with the new strategies in place it will work.
