The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it is ‘deeply disappointed’ by a teachers’ union beginning escalated action short of strike.
Members of the NASUWT says it comes following 'failure of the Manx Government to improve pay and tackle excessive workload'.
The union announced the move less than a week into the start of the academic year.
Officials have confirmed there will be no further comment until after the State funeral on September 19.
