The Department of Health and Social Care spent more than £3 million on medical and emergency flights in the last two years.
A Freedom of Information request to the department asked for the total cost and number of off-island flights, including medical and emergency, in 2016 and 2017.
In response, the DHSC said there were 18,180 trips at a total cost of £3.1 million.
The department uses an air ambulance plane for emergencies, and patients also travel to the UK for treatment.
