The Department of Health have been taking pro-active measures to make improvements in the Island’s salaried dental service.

They commissioned a review into the matter that was carried out by Dr Ian Petty from Manchester University.

The Department has struggled over the past few years to recruit dentists, the report suggests developing alternative providers of the service.

It also puts forward the idea of the Island developing specialist dental training posts.

Currently it’s a slightly improved situation with a marked reduction in the time you can expect to wait for treatment.

Minister David Anderson has said they are currently using the results of the report to formulate the best way ahead.
